Introduction
Since 2015, conservatives have been building an alternative media ecosystem that allows the propagation of conservative ideas and beliefs to the American public, notably among youth. Conservatives noticed that the progressive wing of the Left became more extreme over time due to the decline of conservatism in the mainstream. To capitalize off of this, conservatives would create a litany of persuasive talent and media channels, such as Jordan Peterson and the Daily Wire with Ben Shapiro, to market these ideas publicly while showing the Left as a crazy cult with blue haired, men-hating people. Despite this messaging, it shows a small minority of those on the Left who are just as normal as those on the Right, but the messaging is simple and works. It also coops ideas of anti-institutionalism which has been fostered ever since the many scandals of the US government, notably with the Vietnam War and Iraq War, were shown to the public, creating distrust in government and any big institution in America. All of this would culminate into the presidency of Donald Trump and the increasing divide in America.
What makes the messaging so persuasive
Ever since the Left has taken predominant control over the culture of the United States, particularly through music, Hollywood, and academia, the ideas of multiculturalism, intersectionality, and studies of minorities became front and center, often inspired from civil rights movements from the 60s and gay rights movements. The problem with these ideas is that unlike previous progressive pushes in society, the people involved attack majority groups, such as White Straight Men. This created a weird scenario where White Straight Men would be told contradictory statements about equality while attacking majority groups. So when Right alternative media told them that they mattered just as much as minority groups when the Left didn’t, it shifted them to the Right, such as Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson. Similar to how a parent who is too strict will end up with a child who seeks extreme ways of living to compensate.
Conflicting ideas regardless of fact or nuance that pushed men away
- All people are created equal but minorities need special treatment.
- Affirmative Action
- Beauty at all sizes but being healthy is important.
- Body positivity movement
- It’s ok to express yourself honestly except if you’re a man, white, or straight or are offensive
Disconnect between Democrat politicians and progressive media
Despite what the Right messages to their audience and White Straight Men, most Democrat voters and politicians do not act like modern Progressives, but they mix them together intentionally to make all people on the Left look crazy. Because the minority of Far-Left progressives are the loudest, the Right can abuse that and make all of the Left look insane. The issue is that the majority of Democratic Party, particularly voters and politicians, do not have their own alternative media to fight these false comparisons. The Right has a unified alternative media under Trump first and the Republican Party second, the left is not only not unified under a leader, they’re not even unified with the Democratic Party, such as Hasan and Majority Report.
What the Left needs to do
Politicians
Politicians need to take alternative media more seriously and collaborate with content creators and small alternative media on the Left such as David Pakman.
They need to take more actions that Republicans are shameless to do, like blocking bills and appointees similar to what Republicans did under Barack Obama.
Voters
Voters need to vote in every single election for Democrats, local, state, and national primaries and especially the general election. Progressives need to start voting for Democrats and stop acting like Republicans and Democrats are the same.
Alternative Media
The Left needs to not only create more alternative media that can counter the Right, but there needs to be collabs with Democratic politicians and other Left alternative media alike. The ultimate goal should be to create a Left version of the Daily Wire with a few hallmark Left alternative media figures.
Far-Left Progressives
Far-Left Progressives should have no place in the Left movement and should either support the Democratic Party or leave and abandon their political career. Examples include extreme Socialists, Communists, Anarchists, and any other Far-Left ideology that is at ends with Liberalism or the Democratic Party.
