Overview

The Holocaust was a massive genocide committed by Nazi Germany during World War II in attempt to wipe out what they considered “undesirable” through concentration camps. It included many minority groups, such as gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and especially, Jewish people. It was also used to stop opposing political factions, particularly with hatred for the communists.(Piotrowski, 1998, p. 1) (Moore, Schelvis, 2007, p. 15) It ended up murdering millions of people, with six million deaths being of Jewish people.source needed
After the war, most were completely dismantled, but notably, the Soviet Union kept some within their occupation of land to punish the Nazis. Many troops when first discovering these camps were horrified and some killed Nazis out of revenge.source needed
