Each state should have a publicly accessible database of all peace officers employed by the state on a federal, state, or local level, and require all local police departments to give this information, including but not limited to:
- First and Last Name
- DOB
- Badge Number
- Police Department
- Position within the Police Department
People should be allowed to ask for a police officer’s information, including name and badge number, or any similar information, unless there is a reasonable circumstance where giving this information to a private person would cause harm to an investigation or individual.
