Instead of voting (state and federal only) having restrictions on who can vote, it now by default allows everyone to vote except for the following:
- Currently incarcerated citizens.
- Citizens under the age of eighteen.
- Citizens who are legally incapable to make decisions for themselves.
- Citizens who are dead.
- Non-citizen.
- Voting on someone else’s behalf.
This means felons not currently incarcerated are no longer prohibited from voting in any state.
Local elections may create more restrictions or loosen restrictions, such as allowing non-citizens to vote or banning people who have a felony from voting, unless State law says otherwise.
